Russell Moore has been awarded the Male Vocalist of the Year (Contemporary) Award by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) during a ceremony that took place Sunday, February 8th. Moore and his band, IIIrd Tyme Out, performed on Friday evening as part of the SPBGMA National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, but had to leave for shows in Kentucky and Ohio, keeping him from attending the awards program in person. Upon learning of the win, Moore stated, “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been named Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) for 2015!! I have been blessed with a God-given singing voice that, through the support of our fans, friends, peers and industry associates, I’m able to share with the rest of the world and I’m so thankful for all those things! I’m also very excited about the band’s current personnel and the results we’ve realized after working on new material for a CD that we’ll release later this year! Special thanks to all the staff at SPBGMA and to all voters for this wonderful recognition!”
