Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out continues to amaze audiences with new ways to present their timeless sound and they’ve never proven that better than with their recent performance at the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer festival in Ohio earlier this month.

Joined on stage by the Centerville, Ohio Alternative Stirngs, an orchestra of young students led by conductor Doug Eyink, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out presented themselves in a way never seen before. The band arrived earlier in the week for a stellar performance in classic IIIrd Tyme Out style. Two days later, the band rehearsed with Alternative Strings and then presented a headlining concert that night, creating memories for the audience, the young orchestra and themselves, that will last a lifetime.

“Our performance with the Centerville Alternative Strings at the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer festival was an incredible experience, to say the least,” recalls Russell Moore. “They are all very gifted instrumentalists and are directed by Doug Eyink. Doug’s love of bluegrass music and string ensembles was evident in his intuitive scoring of the songs. Honestly, he made the arrangements sound like the songs had been written that way from the beginning! The rain on the night of this performance was an unwelcome addition because there were several fans who didn’t get to hear and see the collaboration, but it didn’t dampen the spirit or excitement of those who did. Thanks to Doug and all the players with the Centerville Alternative Strings for making that performance one of the best musical memories that I’ll carry with me from now on. I look forward to, hopefully, more performances with them!”
