Troy Boone
Troy Boone grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. His early life was surrounded by music, especially bluegrass. The Boone Family is very musical and Troy took to playing at a very young age. He received his first banjo at the age of 7 and promptly traded it for a guitar due to the finger picks hurting his fingers. Playing guitar all throughout his youth, Troy found influence from classic rock, blues, country, heavy metal and jazz. While in high school, his older brother gifted him a mandolin which sparked more interest in bluegrass music. The mandolin soon became his primary instrument, as he set forth to attend East Tennessee State University. Troy began learning and playing the upright bass, among the other core bluegrass rhythm section instruments. Finding his way into the bluegrass festival scene, Troy toured with Sideline, Terry Baucom and The Dukes of Drive, and The Amanda Cook Band as a mandolinist. Troy states “Switching to upright bass on a professional level has been an enjoyable challenge that I welcome each time I play.” Troy spends his time at home being a father and husband, as well as engineering, mixing and mastering projects as an audio engineer.
